Human beings are by nature pessimists - we needed it to survive in the past.
But we must be optimistic to grow. Pessimism kills initiative, leading to inaction.
Here are 4 ways to develop optimism:
1) Keep a gratitude journal.
Hundreds of publications show it works. It was one of the best things I've ever did to improve my mental health. Give it a try, and let me know if you need help to start.
2) Write down all the value you create.
List your personal accomplishments. Include the results you've delivered to clients and colleagues. You'll remind yourself the difference you make in the world.
3) Stay away from toxic people.
If you sleep with dogs, you'll wake up with fleas. Cynics and critics can only destroy, not produce. Surround yourself with people you admire and want to learn from.
4) Avoid negative news.
Specially gossip and clickbait news. As the expression says, "garbage in, garbage out." Be mindful of what kind of information you're consuming.
